Use topics to organize questions and enable more granular analysis.

Topics are groups of questions in your project. Topics help to organize questions into logical groups to enable more granular analysis and filering across your project reports.

Questions can be added to multiple topics allowing flexibility in how you analyze your data. Topics have the benefit of enabling analysis at the topic-level, while still allowing you to see an overall view of your project across all questions.

People typically use topics to cluster questions into themes, verticals, markets, categories, or keywords.

Topics can also be used to group question variants under one parent topic. For example, question variants such as:

  • “what is the best running shoe?
  • “what is the best running shoe for beginners?”
  • “what is the best running shoe under $100”

could be grouped under the parent topic “best running shoes” to capture all of the different ways that someone might ask when interacting with conversational AI. This approach enables a more comprehensive analysis across all of the different ways that someone might ask about the best running shoe.

Creating and deleting topics

To create a topic:

  1. Click the Questions tab in your project.
  2. Expand the Topics sidebar if not already expanded, by clicking the Topics button.
  3. Click Manage topics in the Topics sidebar.
  4. Click + New topic, and enter a name for your topic.

Multiple topics can be created at once, when you have finished creating topics, you can click Done.

To delete a topic:

  1. Click the Questions tab in your project.
  2. Expand the Topics sidebar if not already expanded, by clicking the Topics button.
  3. Click Manage topics in the Topics sidebar.
  4. Click the **** icon next to the topic you want to delete.

Deleting a topic will not delete any questions that are associated with the topic, and you can always recreate any deleted topics.

Adding questions to topics

Questions can be added to topics by:

  1. Selecting the relevant questions by clicking the checkbox next to the question.
  2. Clicking the Add to topic button
  3. Selecting the topic from the dropdown menu.

You can also drag a topic from the topics sidebar onto a question to add it to that topic.

Filtering questions by topics

To filter questions by topics:

  1. Click the Questions tab in your project.
  2. Expand the Topics sidebar if not already expanded, by clicking the Topics button.
  3. Click the relevant topic to filter questions by that topic.

You can clear filters and selections by clicking the Clear selection button after a filter has been applied.
